[Translation] A randomized, blinded, parallel controlled trial to evaluate the sequential immunization of a bivalent attenuated live poliomyelitis vaccine (human diploid cells) combined with IPV

主要目标：比较2剂cIPV/sIPV+1剂tOPV（液体剂型/糖丸）与2剂cIPV/sIPV+1剂bOPV(液体剂型/糖丸)序贯接种后Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ型脊髓灰质炎抗体阳转率和抗体水平。次要目标：（1）比较1剂cIPV/sIPV+2剂tOPV（液体剂型/糖丸）与2剂cIPV/sIPV+1剂bOPV(液体剂型/糖丸)序贯接种后Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ型脊髓灰质炎抗体阳转率和抗体水平。（2）评价bOPV（液体剂型/糖丸）疫苗的安全性。

[Translation]

Primary objective: To compare the positive conversion rate and antibody levels of polio antibodies of types I, II, and III after sequential vaccination with 2 doses of cIPV/sIPV + 1 dose of tOPV (liquid dosage form/sugar pill) and 2 doses of cIPV/sIPV + 1 dose of bOPV (liquid dosage form/sugar pill). Secondary objectives: (1) To compare the positive conversion rate and antibody levels of polio antibodies of types I, II, and III after sequential vaccination with 1 dose of cIPV/sIPV + 2 doses of tOPV (liquid dosage form/sugar pill) and 2 doses of cIPV/sIPV + 1 dose of bOPV (liquid dosage form/sugar pill). (2) To evaluate the safety of bOPV (liquid dosage form/sugar pill) vaccine.

Opsoclonus in mumps and poliovirus type 3 encephalitides: a report of 2 cases.

Two adult patients with opsoclonus and tremor of the whole body associated with viral infections are reported. The first man presented with mumps (parotitis, orchitis and encephalitis). Paired serum mumps titers were both 1:80. The second patient had conjunctivitis and dizziness. Acute and convalescent sera showed significant rise of poliovirus type 3 titer. Clonazepam attenuated the symptoms in both patients.

Abstract An observation of sudden loss or gain of mouse virulence of the mouse-adapted type III poliomyelitis virus, Leon strain (designated as LH substrain) was described. The virus lost its mouse virulence after one or two passages in monkey testicular tissue culture. This variant, designated as LH-a, remained mouse nonvirulent after 15 consecutive passages in monkey testicular tissue culture followed by 15 passages in monkey kidney tissue culture. However, it was again made mouse virulent at its 18th tissue culture passage by a single passage in monkey testicular or kidney tissue grafted onto chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) of chick embryos.
