In this interview, Alicia Asgari, the Senior Manager of Solutions Consulting at OneStudyTeam, discusses the need for appropriate technology solutions and strategies for sponsors and sites to solve recruitment and enrollment challenges. OneStudyTeam is a provider of cloud-based software and enrollment solutions for sponsors, sites, and CROs with the mission to accelerate the development of new and lifesaving therapies. Equipping sites with better tools that make the management of patient recruitment and enrollment easier allows for better tracking and analysis of pre-screening data. Getting data prior to informed consent allows sponsors to see how many people are interested in enrolling in a particular trial, how they learned about the trial, and why some may not be eligible. This allows sponsors to better understand and work to correct the blocks in the patient funnel, maximizing the patients that are able to successfully enroll in current and future trials. Having insights into the successful patient pathways, whether derived from a recruitment vendor, patient advocacy groups, or a particular social media campaign, can be used to inform adaptive recruitment strategies that will improve enrollment timelines. The challenge can exist in finding tools that integrate easily into a site's workflow. For sites, using the same tools to manage recruitment and enrollment across multiple trials eases burden. This approach also enables them to build out a rich patient database to find patients for other trial involvement, rather than lose track of patients that fall out during a trial or don’t qualify during pre-screening.
