Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Otsuka) has announced the November 24, 2022 launch of Sakuraé Double Action Serum, Japan's first*1 medicated beauty extract to deliver double brightening effect*2*3. The new product will be marketed via the Otsuka "cosmedics.jp" e-commerce website (https://cosmedics.jp/sakurae/).
The Sakuraé brand is the first new skin care addition to the Otsuka line of Cosmedics brands in 14 years.

Skin may be affected by discoloration, such as dark spots and freckles. Melanin is the primary cause of discoloration. Melanin plays the important role of protecting skin from ultraviolet rays, but two factors lead to discoloration. One is over-production of melanin, often due to exposure to ultraviolet rays, and the other is accumulation of melanin due to a decelerated cellular turnover.
Sakuraé Double Action Serum is a medicated beauty extract, Japan's first to offer double brightening by addressing both formation and accumulation of melanin, promoting a clear, bright complexion. Long-acting vitamin C precursor ascorbic acid 2-glucoside*2 inhibits over-production of melanin, while unique Otsuka ingredient AMP*3 promotes elimination of accumulated melanin. With continued use, the repeated Melanin Clear Cycle of 'inhibition' and 'elimination' promotes a clear, translucent complexion.

Elegant 12-layered ceremonial court robes worn by Heian dynasty noblewomen were distinguished by overlapping layers of color. Named for the delicate hues of cherry blossoms, sakura-no-kasane (layered cherry blossoms) was a particularly pleasing springtime palette, characterized by an outer layer of light white silk worn over gradations of pink and red.
