The aim of the study is to assess which prophylaxis methods is the most suitable for peri-implant hygiene between erythritol and ultrasonic scaler with peek inserts.
A randomized clinical trial will be conducted on the patient. Patients will be randomly divided into two groups:
* Erythritol group: erythritol with a particle size of
14 µm will be used for 5 seconds (AIRFLOW® PLUS EMS)
* Ultrasonic scaler group: a piezoelectric handpiece with peek inserts (Mini Piezon EMS; PI EMS) will be used.
Different subgroups will be defined according to the material of the dental crown of the related implant.
The oral hygiene session will be carried out every 6 months (2-years follow-up; 6 sessions), after instruction and motivation of the patient, completion of the clinical chart with the recording of the Probing Depth (evaluation in mm of the peri-implant sulcus taken by a periodontal probe; 4 surfaces of the gingival margin are detected: vestibular, palatal/lingual, mesial, distal), Bleeding on Probing and Plaque Index.

Ultrasonic Scaler VS Erythritol for Peri-implant Maintenance of Loaded Implants With Crowns Made by Different Materials: 12-months Randomized Clinical Trial

The aim of the study is to assess the effect of a 12-month peri-implant protocol with erythritol orultrasonic scaler with peek inserts for dental implants with crowns made by different materials .
Patients will be randomly divided into two groups:
Erythritol group: erythritol with a particle size of

Melting and Solidification Characteristic of Mixture of Two Types of Latent Heat Storage Material in Direct Contact Heat Exchanger

The aim of this study is to develop a latent heat storage system designed to utilize waste heat from industrial processes in the mid-temperature range of 100-200°C.Mannitol and a mixture of mannitol and erythritol, both classified as sugar alcs., were utilized as phase change materials in this study.The present study investigated the melting and solidification characteristics of the mixture of C_M = 70mass% (with a composition of 70% mannitol and 30% erythritol by mass) for latent heat storage at approx. 150°C.Addnl., the study aims to exptl. establish the thermal performance of the mixture of C_M = 70mass% in a direct contact heat exchanger during melting and solidification.Comparative anal. with mannitol was conducted to determine the melting and solidification behavior of the mixture of C_M = 70mass%.Moreover, the heat transfer characteristics, including heat storage and heat release speed, were investigated.Finally, the heat transfer mechanism of each phase change material (PCM) was considered through the overall heat transfer rate.keyword : Phase change material(PCM), Direct contact heat exchanger, Mixture of C_M=70mass%, melting & soidification behaviors, Overall coefficient of heat transfer.

Maltotriosyl-erythritol, a transglycosylation product of erythritol by Thermus sp. amylomaltase and its application to prebiotic

In this study, maltotriosyl-erythritol (EG₃) was synthesized as a novel prebiotic candidate via transglycosylation using recombinant amylomaltase (AMase) from Thermus sp. Tapioca starch served as the glucosyl donor, and erythritol as the acceptor. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) revealed an EG₃ yield of 14.0 % with a concentration of 2.8 mg/mL. Mass spectrometry confirmed the molecular weight of EG₃ as 608 Da, and its strucopture was verified by ¹H and ¹³C NMR analysis. EG₃ exhibited greater resistance to acid, heat, and digestive enzymes compared to erythritol glucosides (EG₁_-₂) and significantly promoted the growth of Lactobacillus casei BCC36987. Fermentation of EG₃ resulted in the highest levels of lactic acid and total short-chain fatty acids, which may contribute to reduced pH levels. These findings suggest that erythritol-receptor products formed via AMase-catalyzed reactions, particularly EG₃, are promising prebiotic ingredients, with the prebiotic activity of erythritol derivatives being influenced by the length of the carbohydrate chain.

Non-destructive assessment of chilling injury in red pepper powder using short-wave-infrared and XGBoost algorithm

This study aimed to evaluate red pepper powder quality by the extent of chilling injury and develop a method for detecting chilling injury-affected pepper powder. Pepper powder produced from chilling injury-affected pepper fruits exhibited increased bitter amino acids, microbial counts, and biogenic amines and decreased sweetness index and organic acid levels. These quality deteriorations indicate the need to detect chilling injury in pepper powders. The color values were insufficient to identify the occurrence of chilling injury. Therefore, hyperspectral imaging was used to detect the chilling injury. Based on the feature importance metrics results from XGBoost and correlation analysis, five key wavelengths were selected from a total of 188 wavelengths. The XGBoost model, using selected wavelengths, demonstrated higher accuracy (100 %) in discriminating the chilling injury level in pepper powder compared to that using full-wavelengths (98.0 %). These results provide insights into the rapid and non-destructive quality assessment of pepper powder.
