A Randomized Controlled Trial of Crystalloid Alone Versus Crystalloid Plus Colloid in Shock Resuscitation
Fluid resuscitation is the most effective treatment of shock. Isotonic crystalloid solution is the current recommended initial fluid resuscitation. However, this kind of fluid has high volume of distribution and may require large volume administration before achieve therapeutic goal of shock reversal. There are rising concern about the delay in shock reversal and adverse consequences of large amount volume of fluid therapy. Colloid fluid have been used as the alternate fluid resuscitation, aiming to limit the volume of fluid resuscitation and promote shock reversal. Whether colloid infusion can improve shock reversal rate and decrease complication associated with fluid resuscitation, had inconclusive information.
A Comparison of Strategies for Injection Teaching: Verbal and Written Instruction Versus Verbal and Written Plus Simulation in Patients With Breast Cancer and Their Caregivers
The purpose of this study is to compare two different ways of teaching people how to give injections at home. The first is what we do now, which is teaching patients and/or their caregivers verbally and by giving written instructions. The second is what we do now (verbal and written instructions) along with a demonstration and practice using a needle and an injection pad that feels similar to skin and fat. This is being done to find the best method for teaching people to give an injection at home.
Efficacy and Safety of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in the Treatment of Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism
The traditional therapy for induction of spermatogenesis in male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism requires both HCG and human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) or FSH until pregnancy occurs. Because of the high cost of hMG or FSH preparations and poor compliance, the investigators raise a new sequential therapeutic approach which can make the treatment more economic and tolerable. The zinc supplement will be also evaluated in patients in this study. This randomized, parallel, open, and multi-center study will compare the efficacy of traditional therapy with new therapy and evaluate the safety of the new protocol.
